LA CASA DI CALAMINA

There is a place, somewhere in the world

far or near, sometimes I get muddled,

where the sea and the mountains touch and kiss,

pine trees and banana trees, in harmony grow.

Oak trees and palm trees share the same beach,

making the most of the pure air, the sun and the clouds.

No-one knows the exact and precise place.

Some say hell, others say paradise.

In the past it was said that you could find it

by taking a path of magical nettles.

You go through the forest,  you get to a beautiful meadow

but careful children!! The nettles can sting!

In this strange place, that no-one has found

perhaps a long way away, or perhaps very close,

on the high cliffs, on the edge of the woods

in an old carriage, two sisters live, you’ll see.

Fairies or witches, no-one knows,

legends have said that they are ageless,

as young as new buds, as old as the earth,

they know the stories about peace and war.

From this place, when they are invoked.

to children they tell, stories true or false…..
